A certain little someone insists that a Tupperware bowl is really a hat and wears is around he house. He also makes me wear it sometimes.

Little Drummer Boy
A few weeks ago Target had a huge toy sale to clear out all the old stuff. I found a cheapy little drum set marked down to $5. I bought it with the intent to hold onto it for Patrick's birthday but after a long weekend we broke it out in an effort to keep him entertained. It appears we may have another member of the rhythm section in the family.
And if you ever find yourself bored, try this little online riddle game called Qwyzzle. I've spent the last 3 evenings working my way up to level 45 and I am about reasy to pull my hair out.
Good luck!

Buddies
Today we had lunch with some friends including Sydney, who moved to Dublin (California) with her parents late last year. Sydney was so excited to see her old frends and it is just too funny to see them all interact. There was lots of hugging, kissing and giggles. Sydney is the one hugging Patrick.

Prince Charming
I bought Patrick a pair of rainboots last week. He loves them. Patrick would dress like this every day if I let him dress himself...

Charming, no?
Today we went to our friend Audrey's second birthday party at Little Gym. Patrick really enjoyed running around with the other kids and even sat down when everyone had a snack and cake (with mom and dad out of site, this is big progress!).

The birthday girl Audrey, with her mom Larissa (my friend from back in our working days!). Isn't her red hair too adorable?

There were a bunch of boys at the party in the 3-4 year old range who were just all over the place and up all the walls. I have seen the future. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Under The Sea
New pictures! Tom took today off so we had a nice 3-day weekend and we actually had time to do something fun. On Sunday we took Patrick to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I was a little worried about how Patrick would handle the 90 minute drive but he was a champ. We was exited to go see the "fishies". Monterey was beautiful. The sun was shining an it was about 60 degrees, just perfect!
Patrick loves seeing the fish and kept shouting out "fishies!" every time one swam by. Onlookers were either amused or annoyed. Here are some of the highlights from the day...

Patrick picked up a small stuffed otter in a shell purse the gift shop and became very attached to it. The otter ended up coming home with us :)

My Favorite Things
Patrick is 21 months old today! Or 1 3/4! To commemorate the occasion I put together a list of Patrick's favorite things right now.
- Jumping on the bed while everyone else sits on the bed and watches him
- Jumping on the trampoline at gymnastics class
- Reading books with mommy and daddy
- Going outside
- Playing with Louie and Ella (or Lulu and Ella as he prefers to call them)
- Feeding Louie and Ella milkbones
- Going out to lunch at Round Table and playing with their train table
- Playing with his Doodle Pro
- Eating rice cakes and Goldfish
- Coloring with crayons
I think I've finally come to the realization that he is no longer a baby. He's a little boy now. His personality is really coming out, he likes to joke around with us nd make us laugh. Of course we think he is the most brilliant, handsome little boy around but we may be a little biased ;)

Party, Party
Patrick is sending very big birthday wishes to his cousin Audrey AND his Auntie Lisa AND his Auntie Crista today. Cousin Audrey turns 1, and I'll let Auntie Lisa & Crista keep their age to themselves. Since Lisa and Crista are twins they obviously share the same birthday but adding Audrey into the mix makes it pretty cool! Lisa and Audrey are getting ready to fly home tomorrow so we celebrated their birthdays last night. Audrey wasn't too impressed by cake, Lisa suspects she was tired because she asked to put on her pajamas at 5 pm.

Patrick also got to visit with his cousin Anna yesterday. Anna and I are third cousins, which makes Patrick her third cousin once removed? Anna was in town for her medical school interviews, we're sending her lots of good vibes! Patrick has met Anna a few times before but this time he really took a liking to her. He was dragging her around the house by the hand, feeding her Goldfish crackers, generally acting silly with her, and even gave her a hug when she left. Maybe my little shy guy is coming out of his shell?

Play Nice
Here are a few pictures from the last week. Patrick had a playdate with his friend Emily, who was visiting all the way from Maryland. Emily's parents are old friends (back to elementary school!). Patrick wasn't too interested in posing for pictures.

Patrick also had another playdate with his cousin Audrey.

Patrick hated wearing hats all summer (which was too bad because I love matching hats!). Now he will wear the hat but he wants to pull it way down over his eyes and walk around until he runs into something. He thinks this is hilarious. I disagree. Especially when he walks into the corner of the dining room table :(

Happy New Year
It's hard to believe it is 2006 already and that Patrick is almost 21 months (which, as I have mentioned before, is dangerously close to 2). Tom was off of work all last week and we had grand plans for lots of fun adventures but the crummy weather and the need to run errands killed those plans. Patrick enjoyed playing with all of his new toys this week, and visiting both sets of grandparents and his cousin Audrey. Next week we'll get back into the swing of things with playdates, breakfast out with our friends and one-on-one mommy time. I have lots of pictures from the last week, I'll try to add those tomorrow.
