All Throught The Night

Oh my goodness, it finally happened, Patrick slept through the night! He went down pretty late (was really fussy last night), and slept from about 9:30 pm until almost 8 am. I am knocking on wood, crossing my fingers and saying a prayer that this continues!

Empty House

Our house has gone through quite a transformation in the last week. Tom and I spent the better part of last weekend clearing out the kitchen, living room and dining room so construction could continue inside. As much as I disliked parts of our house, it was kind of sad to see it all torn apart, especially the kitchen. On Monday it was still intact, on Tuesday it was completely gone, just floorboards and studs left. We had chance to stop by today and take pictures. Sorry there are so many pictures in this post!

Doctor! Doctor!

Patrick had his official one year well baby visit yesterday and took his 3 shots like a little champ. Here are the official stats:

Height - 30 inches (50th percentile)
Weight - 19 pounds, 2 ounces (5th percentile!)
Head - 48.8 centimeters (above 100th percentile)

Patrick's drop in weight is most likely due to him having that stomach bug for a week (his weight had been holding steady at the 25th percentile since birth). I need to fatten him up a little before his 15 month check-up.

In other news, Patrick is now officially walking. I'm not even really sure when it happened, he's been taking tiny little steps for a while now and slowly building up the number of steps he can take at once. Yesterday he hit 38, it's like all of a sudden he can walk and I'm not even sure when it happened. Sniff, sniff :(

A House Is Not A Home

It's been a while since I posted any house pictures, so much has changed! The framing is almost done. Our kitchen is getting demolished on Monday (yikes!), along with our front porch. We've temporily moved out of the house so the contractor can get all the big stuff out of the way.

Happy, Happy Birthday Baby

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

It's hard to believe you are already a year old. You've grown in to a such a happy little guy and you bring everyone around you great joy. Our lives have completely changed and I am grateful for every little change you brought. You are starting to walk, today you took a record 28 steps before collapsing into the floor in a fit of giggles. You love to point at things and you expect me to bring you to whatever item you are pointing at. You have a few words in your vocabulary including dada, mama and tick tock (clock). Based on your current interests, I am guessing you would have a great career as a banana farmer, clockmaker, drummer or construction worker. When we ask you "How big is Patrick?" you respond by holding your arms high above your head and then you laugh, knowing that you've pleased us. You still don't sleep through the night but I forgive you, there's plenty of time for sleep later on. Right now I just want to enjoy every minute I can, I worry that if I blink you'll be heading off to kindergarden. Thank you for being such a wonderful addition to our lives. We love you very, very much.

Hugs and Kisses,
Mommy and Daddy

The Perfect Year

Exactly one year ago tonight I was in the hospital waiting for Patrick. I had originally been scheduled to be induced on April 9th, but the hospital had to reschedule because they were full! On April 12, I went to see the doctor in the morning and it was decided that they would induce that day as they guesstimated Patrick to be about 9 pounds (thankfully, they were wrong!). I spent the rest of the day getting my nails done and packing my hospital bag. Tom came home from work early and we went to the hospital early in the evening. I can't believe how fast the last year has flown by and that my baby boy will be 1 in just a few hours. It makes me sad to know he'll never be that tiny little baby again. I have a million pictures from the last year but it still seems like a blur.

Party Time

We celebrated Patrick's 1st birthday a little early on Saturday with a nice little party (despite earlier reports, there were NOT any ponies!). Patrick seemed to enjoy himself, and really loved the special cowboy hat cake that his Godmother made just for him. My Mom's best friend Maggie flew in from Oklahoma as a special surprise, I had no idea she was coming so it was a very special treat to see her! All of the pictures can be seen here, but here are a few of my favorites. If you have pictures you took from the party please share them with me, I'd love to see!

Don't be fooled by the color of the frosting on his face. It wasn't chocolate, just vanilla buttercream dyed brown.

Open House

Patrick is still sick, but seems to be in good spirits. Today he figured out how to pronounce "L" so he spent a great part of the day repeating "lolololo" and "lalalala". We've started Patrick back on some solids, per the pediatrician's advice. Today's menu consisted of Saltines, applesauce, and dry toast. Mmmmm.

Since it isn't any fun to take pictures of a sick baby, here are some pics from last week....

Sick Boy

My poor baby is sick. He was running a fever this morning and has had diarrhea since yesterday morning. We talked to the advice nurse this morning and she said it sounds like a little stomach virus so he's now on a liquid only diet. Patrick got his first cup of juice today as I've been pushing liquids to keep him hydrated. Even sick, he's still been such a sweetie pie, and secretly I like all the extra cuddles I've been getting. :)
