Take The A Train
This weekend we decided to take Patrick for a ride on Caltrain. Patrick had been on a small park train, but never on a real train and we weren't sure what his response would be but we bought two tickets to the next zone and decided we would ride as far as Patrick tolerated. He absolutely loved it. At every stop he would help out the conductor by yelling "All aboard!" and he couldn't wait for the train to start moving again. And I had never noticed it before but there are all sorts of interesting places along the train route, I am anticipating many more train rides in our future. We got off in Burlingame and walked downtown for a treat at the yummy Copenhagen Bakery before catching the ride back home. When I was a little girl I loved the Burlingame train station because the sign said "BVRLINGAME" which cracked me up every time (and to this day I sometimes say "buh-ver-ling-game"). A few years ago they took down the sign on the side that faces the downtown. I was pleased to see they left the sign on the side of the station that faces the train tracks!

Mommy Says
You can add this to the list of things I never thought I would have to say...
"Patrick, stop licking the floor!"

Join The Parade
This weekend was the annual pet parade in Los Altos. Tom's Dad played in one the bands in the parade so we took Patrick not sure of how he would respond (he's been a bit of a homebody lately). Patrick really loved the parade, especially all the bands and all the dogs. He hasn't stopped talking about it all weekend...."Saw horses!", "Saw Grandpa playing tuba!", "Saw dragon!", "Saw Lulu and Ella!". The "Lulu and Ella" he saw were other pugs in the parade :D

On The Beach
We had a wonderful adventure today. One of my bestest friends, Monica, moved to San Luis Obispo last summer. Her son Makaio turned one this month, and his birthday party was at Avila Beach today so we drove down for the party. Avila Beach is a wonderful little beach, and very kid friendly. We had a wonderful time, Patrick was so good in the car, he really only fussed for about 5 minutes each way (not bad for 400 miles round trip!). The portable DVD player has proven to be worth it's weight in gold :)

Garlic Blues
Patrick fell in love with a piece of garlic today. I was chopping garlic this afternoon and Patrick was very interested. He wanted to smell it and touch it (and I wanted to finish my cooking), so I gave him an entire clove (with the skin still on) to play with. Patrick sat down on his couch with it and very gently peeled the clove as he watched a DVD. He then carried the garlic around for the next 3 hours, sniffing it and declaring "Nummy, garlic smell good!". It was rather hilarious. I guess toddlers sometimes get attached to small inanimate objects. Patrick's friend Calvin had a recent affair with a coffee bean (until it ended up in his nose).

But alas, all good things must come to an end. Patrick gave his garlic clove to Ella who took a bite and spit it back out all mashed up. Poor garlic never had a chance.

Me Myself & I
Patrick is starting to use pronouns, sometimes with much success, but mostly not. I think it is rather charming to hear the little sentences he comes up with. I correct him when he uses the wrong pronoun but he always looks back at me like I am full of it. Here are some phrases we've heard in the last few weeks...
- My do it (I do it)
- Hold you (hold me)
- Help you (help me)
- My stuck (I'm stuck)
My camera seems to be on the fritz so no new pictures :(

My Baby Thinks He's A Train
This past weekend was a really big one for Patrick, he went on his first train ride! Patrick's friend Calvin had his birthday party at a local park that has it's very own tiny steam train. Patrick was quite thrilled with both the party and the train ride and it was a completely beautiful day. Calvin even had a cool train cake.

Yesterday we went to feed the ducks but Patrick was scared of the "geeks" (geese) at the park and had a complete melt down because I wouldn't carry him everywhere (ever though we were far away from the "geeks"). Am I a bad mommy because I took pictures of his meltdown?
