Flying

Yesterday we went on a helicopter ride around the island. I was VERY nervous about riding in a helicopter but it was a lot of fun and a great way to see the Na Pali coast. Patrick stayed back at the house with the grandparents and enjoyed a nap and some time in the pool.

Beach Party

On Friday we took Patrick to Baby Beach, he still seems more interested in the sand than the water. He loves his new pink shovels and carries them just about everywhere, whether there is sand or not. This morning he took a nap with one.

Hawaii Aloha

The weather is beautiful, it seems to only rain at night, how fantastic is that? Patrick isn’t sure what to think of the sand or the ocean but he likes the pool (as long as he is only standing on the steps). Yesterday we drove out to Hanalei for lunch and sightseeing. The last time we were in Kauai I was about 12 weeks pregnant with Patrick so it seems to amazing to be back here with a 13 month old. Patrick has learned a few new words including bird and ball.

Her are a few more pictures, I’ll try to keep posting.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Aloha! Greetings from sunny Poipu. We’re having a great time so far. The flight was long but fortunately there were 9 or 10 other babies on the plane so Patrick was in good company. The house we’re staying in is beautiful, right on the ocean. Patrick enjoyed checking out the lawn in front of the ocean.

We’re making great use of our new Kelty backpack, a birthday present for Patrick from his Auntie Lisa and Uncle Scott and his grandparents.

Today we drove to Wailua Falls, Patrick slept through the falls.

I’ll post more pictures later! Wireless internet, it's a good thing.

The Portrait

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I finally got the proofs for Patrick's one year portraits, go here: http://www.brianorlovphoto.com/Patrick12mos/ to see all the proofs. I can't make the link work for some reason.

We leave for Kauai on Thursday, I will try to update with pics if I can find a wireless connection!

Halfway Down

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

HALFWAY DOWN
Halfway down the stairs
Is a stair where I sit:
There isn't any other stair quite like it.
I'm not at the bottom,I'm not at the top:
So this is the stair where I always stop.

Halfway up the stairs
Isn't up, and isn't down.
It isn't in the nursery, it isn't in the town:
And all sorts of funny thoughts
Run round my head:
"It isn't really anywhere!
It's somewhere else instead!"

Brand New Baby

I'm late in posting this. On Wedneday I went to see Monica and 5 day old baby Makaio. He is so stinkin' cute! And tiny! I barely remember Patrick being that small. When he was a newborn everyone commented on how small he was and all I could think of was "Are you kidding me? This was just cut out of my body!". I got to hold Makaio and he was so light compared to Patrick. It really is amazing how quickly them grow.

Here is the new little guy in all his glory...

On the way home from Monica's I stopped at the house to see what was going on. We're finally in a patch of clear weather so the tarp was taken off the roof so the new roofline could go in (and the new roof). The contractor said they needed about a week of clear weather to get it all done. Well wouldn't you know it, rain is forecasted for Sunday night! Ugh, I am so tired of this weather, I am ready for summer! Here's a quick shot of the front of the house...

Patrick is 13 months old today. He's walking like a champ and absolutley LOVES climbing the stairs. He's even perfected the belly slide back down the stairs. His vocabulary continues to grow, his words now include:
  • Dada (he calls everyone this)
  • Night Night
  • Tick Tock (clock)
  • Doggy
  • Lolo (Louie)

And oddly enough...

  • Hawawa (Hawaii) (it's a long story)

Hope you all have a great weekend! I am finally getting my hair cut for the first time since July of 2004. I need to get out more :)

At The Zoo

Patrick and I went on a little adventure today with some baby friends and went to Happy Hollow Zoo. I think I was about 7 the last time I was there! It's a small zoo but nice for a short visit. Patrick enjoyed the goats in the petting zoo until one decided to knock him down, then they weren't as much fun.

Congratations to Monica and Matt on the birth of their new little boy Makaio! Patrick is excited to have a new playmate!

On The Road Again

I feel like such a slacker for not updating this site in so long. My photobucket bandwidth was exceeded for the month so no new pictures until it resets on the 13th. Oops.

We were in Paso Robles this weekend for a wedding. Dawn and Marc finally got married after a 4 year engagement. The wedding was beautiful and it was nice to get out of town for a few days.

Patrick is now sleeping through the night about 50% of the time, which is just heavenly. I try not to talk about it too much as I fear I will jinx him. We continue to teach Patrick cool "baby tricks". His newest one is giving a high five.

Happy Mother's Day!
