Long, Long Time

Oops, it's been a long time since I updated this. Patrick is over his nasty cold and life is back to normal. The weather has been amazing this week so we've been spending lots of time bird watching in the backyard and blowing bubbles. I suppose every parent has a moment when they hink their child may be a little peculiar. In our case it started this week when Patrick decided he really needed to wear a pair of socks on his hands. All the time. He would cry and cry if we tried to take them off. So for 5 days now he has been wearing socks most of the time. He wear them when he is playing. He wears them when he helps me open the junk mail. He wears them when eating. He wears them at the park. He wears them when we are out running errands. He wears them to bed. I had to buy more socks at Target this week because we are going through 2 or 3 extra pairs of socks a day. Ummm, ok.

Earlier this week we joined Tom for lunch at Stanford Shopping Center. Patrick really enjoyed the fountains and was thrilled to throw in pennies and make a wish.

And Patrick sends birthday wishes to his Godmother (my cousin Danielle). Although her birthday was yesterday, we celebrated today with lunch with the family. Patrick has a great time running around with his cousins. They are all so good with him and he adores them, it's very sweet to watch them play :)

My Valentine

Happy Valentine's Day!

Patrick decided to celebrate the day by catching a wicked cold and running a 102 degree temperature :( His doctor had ruled out an ear infection yesterday but wants to see him again tomorrow if his fever doesn't break (he still had one when he went to bed). So Tom and I had leftovers for dinner and took turns holding a very clingy little boy. Tom is off to San Diego for the day tomorrow so I hope things go better.
I had Patrick's picture taken for Tom for Valentine's Day but I couldn't post them until today after Tom got his gift. So here is my little Valentine :)

And a belated happy 22 months to our little man.

Oh, and Patrick officially got into preschool for the fall! He'll be going to Montecito School in Los Altos starting August 31. It's just 2 mornings a week for 3 hours, I think it will be really good for him! And who knew preschool was so competitive around here (atually, Monica had warned me about it)? I got one of the last spots for him, parents started arriving for sign-ups in the wee hours or the morning (4:30 am!).

The Artist

Patrick was playing with Play-Doh tonight. He usually likes me to flatten it out into a disk and then he cuts it with a cookie cutter. Tonight he decided he wanted it in the shape of a ball. I was doing something in the kitchen and he called me over to look at his "face" and he proceeded to point out the eyes, nose and mouth on his creation. I thought it was pretty amazing! I saved it for Tom when he got home and Patrick pointed out the features to him as well. Then Tom stuffed it back in the Play-Doh can :(

Playground Love

The weather continues to be beautiful so today we played around with the camera at the park. It is extremely diffiult to get Patrikc to both look at the camera and smile. Most of my pictures end up slightly blurry because he is always on the move. Here are some of the better pictures from today.

Tuba Tune

Patrick seems to be very interested in any sort of musial instrument (or anything that can be turned into a musical instrument). This makes Tom very happy. Patrick has yet to produce a real sound with the tuba but he is coming close!

Earlier in the week we had a play date at our house. Apperently getting 4 toddlers to look in the same diretion and smile is more difficult than I thought. Who knew?
