If I Had A Hammer

Construction is going well. Thankfully, the weather has been clear all week. This morning our contractor brought Patrick a little toy hammer (because Patrick has been so interested in everything going on). Patrick just loves it and is doing his best to "help out".

Here's the latest view in the backyard. The plumbing went in this week and you can see the blank spot on the back of the house wher the water heater used to be. The water heater is temporarily on the side of the house until it is relocated in the garage. The floor insulation is down and the subflooring should be done tomorrow.

Boys Will Be Boys

I'm starting to think some things are hard wired in to boys. Patrick is learning to climb and has not yet delevloped any fear. I don't think the manufacturer would recommend this use...

Is it bad that my first instinct was to pick up the camera rather than pull him off the toy?

Monday, Monday

I slipped out in to the rain today to take a house picture. It seems like things are moving along pretty quickly (ask me if I still feel that way in 2 months!). As if choosing an architect, settling on a design, and selecting a contractor weren't enough decisions to stress us out we now have to start picking things out for the house. Right now we're focusing on windows as they need to be ordered this week. So many details and my brain can only handle so much right now! If Patrick would start sleeping through the night I might be able to make better decisions ;)

Hair

Patrick had his first hair cut yesterday. He had some really wispy pieces on the top that were 4 or 5 inches long so he really just needed a trim to tidy everything up. We took him to President Barber Shop in Palo Alto to have it done, they were kind enough to cut it for free!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

The foundation was poured on the house today. Patrick loved watching the cement truck. The contractor told me we could write in the cement, so we did! The writing is on the bottom of the foundation wall in the extra cement and should be visible in the crawl space once the house is done. I thought it was cool.

Every Little Step

My little man turned 11 months old on Saturday! Patrick is sooooo close to walking. I'm not sure if I should be excited or scared. He'll stand up and take one or two very tiny steps before he falls on his butt and realizes he can crawl the rest of the way.

On Friday we had a park playdate and enjoyed the almost 90 degree weather!

Soak Up The Sun

Today was a beautiful spring day (even though it is technically still winter). It topped out at 88 degrees! Tomorrow is supposed to be just as nice. We had lunch today with Monica at Stanford and enjoyed strolling around and looking at the fountains. Tomorrow we have a playdate at the park and I'll take more pictures.

Construction continues on the house, they just finished up digging out the foundation today. There must have been 20 truckloads of dirt taken away over the last few days. Here's another house update pic. I've added in some information on what is going where.

Sitting & Watching

Patrick developed a new hobby today. I found out he likes to sit at the back door and watch the contruction going on. He's particularly excited by anything involving a wheelbarrow. Today he sat and watched for a good 10 minutes, and giggled when the workers stopped to wave at him. Perhaps Patrick has a future as a contractor? Architect? Real estate mogul?

The area dug out is where the addition will be. On the left we are building a family room. In the middle is the dining room extension (we are flipping the room around so the table will go the other way). Off to the right is our new bedroom, bathroom, and walk-in closet. Did I mention the walk-in closet?

What A Difference A Day Makes

Monday afternoon...

Things like this tend to make me very nervous, so far I am holding up OK. We spent the day out of the house in order to avoid the jackhammer noise. Does anyone have any suggestions for nice, local day trips so we can get out of the house?

Lovely Day

The weather has been wonderful for the last 2 days! That's a good thing since construction begins on the house bright and early tomorrow morning. The first thing that needs to be done is removing the concrete pad/patio in the backyard so tomorrow will be filled with sounds of jackhammers. I will be making myself scarce for the day!

We took advantage of the weather and took Patrick to the park this afternoon. He LOVES the bucket swings. The people who live across the street from the park were having a party in their front yard and had a guy playing keyboards so we were treated to live music while we played. What a great day!

Mr. Telephone Man

Patrick has been obsessed with the phone for the last few months. Yesterday he picked up the phone and put it to his ear and started saying "dada" over and over again. It was so cute!

"Let's try Dad on his new Treo"

"It's ringing"

"I got his voicemail"

"I'm going to leave him a message"

"I can barely hear myself with those pugs yapping away!"

Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head

Ugh. House construction was supposed to start this week and now it has started raining again. Crud. I guess it is better to have it rain before construction starts rather then when my house it completely torn open and exposed to the elements (and spiders seeking a nice dry place).
