Around The World

The last few days have flown by. We're headed home tomorrow and I am not looking forward to another full flight. Today we spent the day at Epcot and we are all worn out. Here are a few pics...

It's A Small World

We're in Disneyworld! We had a VERY long day yesterday with a flight to Dallas then on to Orlando, followed by a bus ride to our hotel. Patrick was surprisingly good (thanks to a few Elmo DVDs we brought on the plane). Today we hit up most of Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom. Patrick particularly liked It's a Small World and the Winnie the Pooh ride. We had a lovely dinner in Epcot at the French pavilion and caught the fireworks on the way out. We're trying to keep Patrick on California time and so far it seems to be working out. Tomorrow we're headed to MGM. Will try to log on and post more pic this week (I'm on dial up).

Birthday Boy

Happy Birthday Tom! We celebrated tonight by having a very nice dinner out at Osteria in Palo Alto. I made chocolate molten lava cakes for dessert. Tom got an iPod Nano which I snark on but it is actually very tiny and cute.

Patrick celebrated Tom's birthday by being a little stinker all day. Hmph.

And did anyone else notice in the post below that our new bedroom and Dee's kitchen are the same color?

The Finish Line

We are oh so very close to the house being done, finally!

This weekend we celebrated my cousin Michael's 9th Birthday. Patrick had a great time playing with his cousins. I've been trying to teach him names so cousin Isabel was pleased when Patrick called her Izzy!

This past week our hardwood floors were stained, sanded and sealed (or whatever it is called) and the deck in back was started. Tomorrow the final coat of sealant will be put on and the appliances are being delivered. I think the painters come back on Tuesday or Wednesday to finish the walls, cabinets and baseboards. The stain I picked for the floors is sort of dark (turns out I like dark colors!). Today Tom and Michael put in all of the deadbolts.

Before anyone freaks out about that cobalt blue paint I will point out that that is the laundry room and I like the color. Once the second coat goes on I will like it even more :)

Little Martha

Has anyone else been watching Martha Stewart's new show? My Mom and I are already hooked (of course I was a fan before), Martha is actually very funny. A few months ago when Martha was released from prison she wore a crocheted poncho a fellow inmate made for her and it created a little buzz. My Mom found the pattern online and had been testing her crochet skills. Today on Martha's show everyone in the audience wore the same poncho, including Martha's dogs, the crew, and the guests (even Elmo!). In honor of Martha, Patrick tried on the poncho tonight...

And I've mentioned if before, but Patrick is REALLY into Elmo right now (as are several babies in his playgroup). Today he was being sweet and hugging Elmo while mugging for the camera (notice the cowboy boot slippers are making another appearance).

What a cutie pie!

Dancing Machine

My little baby seems to have inherited his father's musical ability, whoo hoo! Patrick has been asking for music, going to the CD player and begging. I'll have to find one of Tom's CDs to play for him so he can hear his daddy playing. On Saturday we went to the Mountain View Art & Wine Festival and Patrick enjoyed all of the live music, taking time to stop and dance for the crowd at any chance he got. When he gets really into it he shakes his hand in the air as he bops up and down. Patrick's favorite song right now is Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani. He goes nuts when it comes on the radio.

This morning Tom took Patrick over to his parent's house and Patrick had the chance to ride around in a wheelbarrow. For some reason he hates his stroller but wagons, toy cars and wheelbarrows are cool. Check out Patrick with his Grandma...

Summers End

Yesterday we got back from a very long weekend in Chico where we stayed with cousins Gary & Camille. It's hard to believe that the summer is almost over. We all had a great time enjoying the company and the warn weather, especially Patrick. He spent the last 5 days:

Playing poolboy

And just generally being silly

We all ate too much (and some of us may have drunk too much)

Our house is almost done. The paint is almost finished and the floors need to be finished and then that's it. We're hoping it will only be another 10 days or so. Our contractor called me yesterday while we were on the road because the first coat of paint color went on the walls and he was a little concerned that I wasn't going to be very happy (I picked some bold colors with the help of a designer). So far I am completely thrilled! Here's snapshot of the entry way and living room. The final color will be a little different with the second coat of paint on.
