Wasted Weekend

We had an unusually lazy weekend, not much to report.

We went to Target and Patrick got a new stuffed Elmo...


We enjoyed a Jamba Juice break...

We learned that a 15 month old CAN press the alarm button in the elevator...

Water Babies

We went on a big adventure today! Monica and I took the kids to Raging Waters (thanks to a friend for the free passes!) and we all had a great time. There was a single stair that went into the baby pool and Patrick spent almost the entire time climbing up and down the stair. The kid is really obsessed with stairs. Malia enjoyed the Lazy River and Makaio enjoyed napping.



When we were getting ready to leave the house this morning Patrick ran to my closet and grabbed an empty purse. He insisted on carrying it down to the car and ended up falling asleep with it clutched in his hands. You will notice this is the second picture I've posted of Patrick carrying a purse. Maybe he has inherited his mommy's love of handbags?


And here's a semi-recent house picture, The kitchen cabinets ar almost all in and the stone fabricator was out today to make templates for the countertops. The cement for the front stairs has been poured and the brickwork will get done as soon as that sets. The hardwood floors are almost all done (though not yet sanded or stained) and I think the tile in the kitchen and bathroom are going up soon. Lots going on, but the finish date is still scheduled for the end of August (it had better be because we have to move out of our apartment by the end of the month!).

Sweet Kisses

Patrick has discovered books! We've been reading to him since he was born but he never really showed any interest in books until the last few weeks. Now Patrick will bring me a book and plop down in my lap to I can read it to him. His current favorite is Peekaboo Kisses, a board book with "touch features". As I go through each page Patrick stops to kiss the animal on the page, it is too precious. He's also started giving me unsolicited kisses which I just adore. He'll even make a little smack noise when he does it. Patrick's other favorite books include That's Not My Puppy, My First Truck Board Book, Goodnight Moon and Are You My Mother?.

Swing Along

I took this picture yesterday at a playdate in the park. Patrick doesn't always like the swings but yesterday must have been a good day.

Sunday Afternoon

Patrick hit a big milestone today, we finally turned his car seat around. The pediatrician had said we could keep him rear facing up until he hits the max on his carseat (33 pounds), but it has been so darn hot lately that I was worried about the A/C reaching him. Patrick seemed to really enjoy being right in the middle of the action!



We took a walk today and Patrick enjoyed taking in nature. He even found a pile of leaves to play in.




I took a few pictures of the house this weekend. It's finally starting to look almost done. This is the new foyer. We were able to reuse our old front door and sidelights. I still need to find a light fixture for the ceiling.



This is the dining room. The built-in buffet has been put in but is covered for protection. It will have a cream colored marble top.



The room I'm most excited about is the kitchen. The cabinets are being installed this week. The oven will be to the left of the door, the pantry and refrigerator on the right.



And the bathroom... you will notice the wallboard has been torn out already. Apparently when the wallboard screws were going in they hit one of the pipes creating a leak. Oops. The vanity has also been installed, it will have the same marble countertop as the buffet.




We spent some time this weekend looking at paint swatches, a LOT of paint swatches. Anyone have any color suggestions for us? :)

Where There's Smoke There's Fire

A little background information, we moved out of the house during the heavy work of the remodel. We rented a condo in Mountain View until the end of August. So at about 10 pm tonight the fire alarm went off. We're on the 3rd floor of the building so I close the laptop (I was checking my e-mail!) grabbed Patrick out of his crib and we headed downstairs just in time to see the two firetrucks pulling up, with lights and sirens and everything. The firsts floor is filled with smoke and some idiot is telling the firemen "False alarm, it's OK, you can go" while smoke is pouring out of the building. They insist on checking it out and run into the building with all of their fire gear and masks on. Turns out the fire was in the idiot's unit, he locked his door before he went outside so they had to break down his door. Turns out he left a pot on the stove and went out tonight, coming home just in time to catch the fire, lock his door, and run out to meet the trucks. The firemen stay and set up huge fans to blow out all of the smoke. We get to meet a few neighbors including a very sweet French bulldog, Patrick enjoyed watching the trucks. Now we're back upstairs and our place smells a little like smoke. Too bad I didn't have my camera to take pictures.

In other news, the little man is now 15 months old and we celebrated by going to the doctor's office for a few more shots! Poor little guy. Patrick's official 15 month stats:

• Height - 31.25 inches (50th percentile)
• Weight - 21 pounds, 10 ounces (10th percentile)
• Head - 49 centimeters (95th percentile)

He got two shots and cried for a while. Patrick's been working on perfecting his scowl and he made sure he showed it to the nurse after the shots.

It's been really hot this week. Our condo has air conditioning. We haven't left the condo much to go out. I love A/C. A lot.

Over The Weekend

We had a very busy weekend with lots of fun activities! On Saturday we went to a reunion for our "Preparing for Birth" class that we took right before Patrick was born. It was really cool to see all of the babies 15 months later.





Today we went to the Los Altos Art & Wine Festival. Patrick enjoyed a taste of ice cream and checked out one of the murals painted on a storefront.





In other news, the house is coming along nicely. The stucco is done and the wallboard is taped and getting a skim coat. I think the kitchen cabinets will be going in this week.

Shower Scene

Today we went shopping for sinks, faucets and a toilet. Patrick was in heaven in a store with lots of toilets and loved "helping" me pick things out. And by "help", I mean that he lifted the lids and seats of every toilet he could find and explored inside the bowl. Thankfully, showroom toilets do not have any water in them and do not really flush. Patrick also helped by holding my purse, this picture was snapped as he played in a showroom shower.

Fearless

How did I end up with a daredevil child? I tought as Patrick got older he would develop some healthy fears (heights, fire, etc.). This hasn't been the case. Patrick takes great delight in taking headers off the bed or a flight of stairs. His newest tricks? He's figured out that he can walk backwards until he bumps in to something. He's also figured out that he can close his eyes and walk forward until he hits something (at which point he errupts in a fit of giggles). And today he figured out that he can close is eyes AND walk backwards. Where does he come up with these things?

Almost Home

Our house is looking awesome! It's nice to finally see things coming together (rather than being torn down!).

The first coat of stucco is up all around, the second coat goes up next week.
