Traveling Man

My Dad has been in town this week, visiting from Ohio. We've been having fun tooling around town, tomorrow we have plans to hit Santana Row. Patrick has been having lots of fun with his Grandpa, it's always fun to have someone new to wrestle with! Check out Patrick's eyes. I've had people comment that he has my eyes, and now you know where those squinty smiling eyes come from.





Molly got a new Bumbo seat last week and she's been practicing sitting. Sadly, she doesn't really seem to like it. But sometimes I am forced to put her down for silly little tasks like using the restroom and taking a shower. I know, it's a lot to ask of her. Ha ha.



And here's a picture that shows some of Molly's balding. Every night her crib is covered in fine little black hairs. Patrick lost a lot of his hair at the same age, and it grew back in a lighter color so we'll see what happens with Molly. I suppose it would be too much to ask for red hair? ;)

My Little Playmate

Both of Tom's sisters are in town visiting, and Patrick's had the chance to spend some time with his cousins Audrey and Tom. Patrick and audrey played really well together, they even shared! Patrick showed Audrey how to make sand angels. Molly cooed and smiled. Aren't they cute?

Baby Baby

Our little Molly is 3 months old today! The time has just zoomed by, it's hard to believe she's 1/4 of the way through her first year. Molly's been such a sweet baby. She started sleeping through the night but I got cocky about it and mentioned it to a few people, you know what that means, right? Last night she was up at 2! But she's such a happy baby, she doesn't even cry when she wakes up in the middle of the night, she just coos and kicks. And she always offers plenty of smiles as payment for those middle of the night feedings. She weighed in today at 14 pounds even, and measured at just over 24 inches. It seems her growth is slowing down which is a good thing because mommy likes to buy clothes ahead and I would have been bummed out if nothing fit. Molly's developing her little personality and even has definite likes and dislikes. Likes include: having her diaper changed; playing with her brother; having her feet smooched; looking at herself in mirror; watching her crib mobile; and being held all day. Dislikes include; loud noises; the sound of sneezes; having her fingernails trimmed; having to wait more than 2 hours between feedings; and getting the sun in her eyes. Molly's losing her hair a little bit, partyly because she sleeps on her back and partly because she likes to tug at her hair when she is nursing (mommy's losing her hair too but that is another story). Patrick continues to be good with her, he loves coming in with me to get her up from his nap, he hands me diapers when I change her, and he talks about all the things he will do with Molly when she gets bigger. At the top of his list is a trip to the zoo.

And me? I'm getting to be more confident as the mom of 2 kids. We get out of the house more often than I expected, even if it is just to the grocery store or Target. I find that I am so much more relaxed with Molly than I was with Patrick and I wonder if that is part of the reason she is so easy. I just feel blessed :)

Blue Skies

My brother Nick is turning 30 tomorrow! I think that might make him a full fledged adult now ;) Nick's girlfriend Leah surprised him with a party today at the beach in Aptos. It was a perfect beach day (which seems rare in Northern California), there was no fog, the sun was shining, the food was plentiful and the company was great.

Patrick really loved playing in the water (today at least, he has a tendency to be a little fickle). Molly's been having a hard time sleeping anywhere other than home so she was a little cranky due to the lack of a good nap, but she was smiling and charming and got to meet a few relatives for the first time today.

Happy Birthday, Sweet Sixteen

OK, so she's a little bit older than 16, but she's still 16 at heart. Yesterday my mom had a milestone birthday (it seems to be the year for milestone birthdays, my brother turns 30 in a few days). We celebrated over dinner and dessert. Of course Patrick had to be right in the middle of the action the entire time. He loves a good party!

So Happy Birthday to my beautiful mom, may you always remain young at heart!

Where I've Been

Long time, no blog. Life has a funny way of getting busy. Last week we spent 5 days in Lake Tahoe, it was a great trip even if it took f...o...r...e...v...e...r to get there and back. Molly still eats every 2 hours during the day (it's hard to maintain that weight!), and since I am fairly sure nursing while driving is a big no-no we had to stop fairly frequently. We even stopped at the new Nut Tree, I loved stopping there on road trips as a kid, we would always get to bring home a gingerbread cookie. When we got there Molly didn't sleep very well, we even resorted to buying a swing at the K Mart in the hopes of rocking her to sleep (sorta worked). Patrick decided he loves boats and got to ride in both a paddleboat and a motor boat. Tom and I went into South Lake Tahoe one night. We saw lots of chipmunks. A good time was had by all.















And this weekend we went to Isabel and Gaby's birthday party. After having parties at the beach the last few years it was back to the park for water play. Patrick got waaay into the water guns (or water squirters as I called them). Water squirters, a pinata and cake.... could there be anything better? :)

Happy 4th of July!

We went to my Grandma's annual BBQ and had a lovely time, Patrick got to play with the big kids which he always looks forward to. Patrick has school tomorrow morning so we didn't want to keep him out to late so we missed the fireworks. As we were driving home I was remembering the fireworks they used to do at Moffet Field every year. We would always go to my Grandma Helen's house (around the corner from where we live now) to watch the fireworks. My Grandma loved fireworks and always made sure we had firecrackers for the holiday, how cool is that?
