Our little man is 2 years old! Instead of being sad and weepy about it (as I suspected I might be) we had a great day with no tears from mommy. Patrick's first year flew by really fast but his second year flew by even faster. It seems like just yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital, so unsure of what we were supposed to do next. Patrick continues to be a complete joy in our lives. There isn't a day that goes by where he doesn't crack us up. He's turning into a sweet, polite little boy with a little bit of a temper. He loves Louie and Ella and helps Dad feed them every evening. He loves to play with his friends, and always says "Goodbye friends!" when we leave. He still loves to cuddle with us. He finally has a "real" lovey, a super soft blue blanket my cousin Felicia gave me as a baby shower gift. Favorite song: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Favorite foods: dinosaur chicken nuggets, orange juice and yogurt. Favorite book: Goodnight Moon. Current obsessions: trains, bubbles, and Elmo. Newest trick: saying "I love you", he said it today for the first time and I only cried a little.
We spent the day doing all sorts of fun things. Patrick woke up to find his birthday present from Mommy and Daddy in the family room. He was very exited to get his own train and train table, and spent an hour yelling out "whoo whoo" and "all aboard!" as the train did loops (then he dismantled the track and carried it all into the bathroom).
Later on Patrick dyed Easter eggs and had lunch with his cousins. He really just wanted to splash around in the dye but refused to wear the smock his grandma had given him for Christmas.
After a nice afternoon nap we met up with some friends at Hidden Villa for a very cool tour given by a friend. Patrick got to see a 4 day old baby cow and 2 week old baby goats. I told him earlier in the day that we were going to a farm, so Patrick was disappointed that we didn't see a farmer at the farm. He kept asking where the farmer was.
When Tom got home from work we went out for dinner. Patrick had grilled cheese, fruit and chocolate milk, what else could a birthday boy ask for?
Cake! Patrick has the blowing out the candles thing down flat!
And to top off the evening we blew bubbles outside.
It was a fabulous day for my fabulous little guy. I guess Patrick isn't technically a baby anymore but he will always be my baby. We love him very much and feel blessed to have him in our lives. Happy birthday Boo!
